TRAVEL BUCKET

As much as I love the simplicity of The Dopp Kit, I wanted to try something new for an upcoming trip for my toiletry bag. I came up with this bucket design. Using 1050D Ballistic Cordura® on the bottom exterior and some of God’s Plaid (M81Woodland) that wraps into the top of the interior of the bucket. Then I used my favorite 1000D Orange for the rest of the interior. On the interior, I created two pockets with mesh and 4 loops for some organization. With some black paracord, I created a drawstring to sinch the top closed. This is where I overused the 1000D, it made it pretty hard to close all the way. I wanted the orange inside the sleeve for the paracord and it was too much fabric causing it to bunch up and not close all the way. However, for me, the top closed enough. This is something I will be working on before I release the Travel Bucket.

HARD DRIVE BIBLE

I like many others use a Mac and run a couple of external hard drives. I have been using two separate HD cases, and hate the long setup time when commuting back and forth between offices. So I decided to create my very own one-off hard drive case. As I’m sure you are aware with a Mac you have to use a dongle to plug in your hard drives now which adds to the process. I had the idea of a pouch that will hold both hard drives, run the USB cables out the side and hold the dongle on the outside for easy access. I also decided to use my scraps for this project as well, one to use them up and two to add to the challenge. This project is also a learning process for me, designing and crafting a bag/pouch with more than one piece and using a front, back, and gusset.

WINTER TOTE RUN

My first micro-batch run to help learn more about bag making, and boy what a learning process it was. Everything from planning out the materials, getting back ordered on materials to sewing, cutting everything apart, resewing, cutting them apart, and repeating a couple more times. I feel one of the best ways to learn is to jump in and get your hands dirty, and I’ve done just that. Like I said this batch was very small with only doing 5 of these Winter EDC Totes. This was a test and a major learning process for me. Trying a new take on the zipper, an oversized pocket for mods, two pockets that fit 32oz Nalgene bottles, and 1-inch D-ring to easily clip your keys for ease of access.
